Gotham’s Triple Crown

By Fred C. Klein

“Triple Crown” is a sports sobriquet denoting the winner of significant 3 titles.

My favorite is the Major League Baseball Award to the league batting leader in 3 categories: Batting Average, Runs Batted in and Home Runs.

My favorite Baseball Triple Crown winner was, of course, Mickey Mantle in 1956.

In Thoroughbred Horse Racing there is also a Triple Crown awarded to the winner of the Kentucky Derby, Preakness and Belmont Stakes.  My favorite was
Secretariat in 1973.

With this as background, I add that Gotham City Networking also has a Triple Crown Winner, ie, the winner of the Networker of the Year, recipient of a Gotham Foundation Season of Giving Grant and, our highest honor, recipient of our Red Bandana Award.

Gotham’s Triple Crown was achieved last year when Corey Bearak achieved the ultimate trifecta upon his designation as 2023 Red Bandana (in memory of Welles Remy Crowther who was a Hero on 9/11) recipient, having previously achieved the other crowns.

Corey does so much for Gotham (Fredslist Moderator, Sponsorship Chairman, Co Chair of Green and Breakfast Groups, founding member of Gotham’s fabled Traveling Wilburys and a lot more, including prime Wheelman) and is thus eminently worthy.

No wonder that Corey has earned the potent Tagline: “Corey Has Clout!”
