FWC and Health Department Talk Iguanas
Last Thursday, May 3, the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, in partnership with the Florida Department of Health in Monroe County, led a Community Health and Iguana Seminar at Key Colony Beach City Hall. Over 70 Monroe County residents, including Key Colony Beach City Council members attended. Participants learned how to discourage iguanas from entering properties, legal removal options, and regulations. Health department representatives also provided information about the community health assessment conducted in Key Colony Beach last year whereby iguanas, primary healthcare, and street infrastructure were among the top concerns with residents. For those who would like to learn about how iguanas can be controlled or removed, visit www.myfwc.com/iguana.
