From One Florida College to Another: FKCC Receives Bikes, Laptops, Supplies from Broward College

KEY WEST, FL, October 11, 2017— Students and employees of Broward College were quick to come to the aid of their colleagues at Florida Keys Community College (FKCC) as they recover from Hurricane Irma.  Destruction from the Category Four storm has rendered many FKCC students with formidable challenges to their daily lives as well as their academic goals.  Many are struggling without transportation, computers, or even basic shelter.  Broward College delivered a bounty of collected relief items on Friday, which included 50 laptop computers, 35 bicycles, academic supplies, and personal care items.

The goods reached its destination in time to welcome FKCC students back to college life.  FKCC’s Key West campus re-opened and classes resumed last Monday, October 2, following three weeks of closure for post-storm clean-up and repairs.

Those interested in making a donation to support FKCC students recovering from Irma can do so via the College’s website atwww.fkcc.edu/irmasupport.  For more information, contact FKCC Foundation Coordinator Dee Dee Vaughan at 305-809-3153 or [email protected].
