Fringe Theater Celebrates The Holidays With Lillian Baxter

Fringe Theater Key West celebrates the holidays with A Very Lillian Baxter Christmas at the Little Room Jazz Club, Dec 20-24, at 7pm. If you’ve got the tropical island holiday blues, this “one woman” show is the antidote.

“We wanted to give people a fun way to get into the holiday spirit,” explains John Vessels who, along with Jay Schwandt, wrote and stars in the show.  “But we wanted it to be different – Lillian Baxter different.”

At the heart of A Very Lillian Baxter Christmas is Lillian herself, a former “Miss Little Rock” who is staging a theatrical comeback with a touring Christmas show. Things go awry, however, when her pianist is a no-show. What’s a girl to do?  It’s Moishe to the rescue. Oh vey! Tinsel flies as the duo banters their way through cherished, obscure, and non-traditional holiday songs.

“John Vessels has a masterful level of vocal control which he pairs with a pitch perfect portrayal of a super start that never was,” wrote a review of the show which premiered in Louisville. “And Jay Schwandt shines like a Christmas star with his impressive piano skills.”
