Florida Keys Council of the Arts announces new Board of Directors and Officers

The Florida Keys Council of the Arts is pleased to announce the new slate of officers elected to the Board of Directors at their recent Board meeting.

Barbara Weikel of Key West will serve as Chair following two years as Treasurer. She received a BA in Mathematics from Winthrop University in South Carolina. Having spent the majority of her career with Eastern Airlines, Barbara has also been a realtor, IT analyst, and office manager for the Spottswood Company. She moved to Key West in 2007 and fell in love with the arts community. Barbara is married to photographer/author, Ralph De Palma, and is co-publisher/co-editor of The Soul of Key West, Volumes I & II.
Vice Chair Juliet Gray, creative producer, performer, and writer, is the Chief Creative Officer of The Performing Arts Project, which she co-founded more than 10 years ago alongside Broadway, television, and film professionals in order to provide vibrant theatrical training to the next generation of performers. Juliet co-founded the Key West Theater, where she served as Artistic Director from 2014-2018. Juliet has also written more than 1,000 articles for various national publications and a travel book on the Florida Keys published by Rowman & Littlefield.
Joyce Burd, Board Secretary, has been a resident of Key West since 2012. Her professional career began as a dance therapist with special needs populations. In Philadelphia, she was the founder of two nonprofit organizations, Art-Reach, Inc. enables people with low incomes and disabilities to experience the arts, and Dancing Classrooms Philly, a ballroom dance program for middle school students. She is a member of Keys Choral Arts. Joyce loves to dance, read, walk, kayak and sail.
Board Treasurer Eric Anderson of Tavernier is the Practice Manager at Florida Keys Pediatric & Adolescent Center which he shares with his partner, Dr. Stan Zuba. Eric also serves as the district 5 representative for the Monroe County Art in Public Places committee. Eric loves to travel, experience new cultures, and promote arts and culture.
New Board members include Jill Miranda Baker of Islamorada, Leslie C. Calero of Marathon, Beryn Harty of Ramrod Key, Mark Hedden of Key West, and Charlotte Palmer of Big Pine Key. Bonnie Greenberg will remain as past Chair.

The Florida Keys Council of the Arts is the leading arts and cultural organization in the Florida Keys. As the non-profit local arts agency in Monroe County, it connects audiences from around the world to galleries, theaters, museums, festivals, dance, music and more from Key Largo to Key West.
