VIP Series features Vision, Ideas, and Perspectives
KEY WEST, FL, April 3, 2017— Florida Keys Community College’s will close the 2017 season of its VIP Series with “Saving America’s Everglades” on Wednesday, April 12 at 7 p.m. in the Tennessee Williams Theatre on the Key West Campus. The College welcomes Shannon Estenoz, the Executive Director of the South Florida Ecosystem Restoration Task Force, Key West native, and FKCC Distinguished Alumnus, to lead the presentation on the critical topic of saving our nation’s natural gem: the Everglades.

Estenoz will discuss the historic Everglades, the 20th century program of drainage and development that threatened the survival of the ecosystem, and the ambitious infrastructure program aimed at saving it.
Estenoz, who graduated from FKCC in 1987, was named a Distinguished Alumnus by the College in 2016. She went on to earn degrees in International Affairs and Civil Engineering from Florida State University. Her 20-plus year career includes various leadership roles with the Environmental and Land Use Law Center, the World Wildlife Center, and the National Parks Conservation Association.
