Farm Share works with Florida farmers to prevent food waste and distribute healthy food, including fruit, vegetables, milk, bread, and juices, to those who need it most. Last year, 40,497,190 pounds of food was made available to families, children, the elderly, the disabled, and veterans.
Established in 1991, Farm Share is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to recovering, sorting, packing, and distributing nutritious food to people in need. Many of the Florida agencies Farm Share supplies are small non-profits, including church food pantries, soup kitchens, homeless shelters, and community centers, run by volunteers.
For those interested in receiving free fresh food with dignity, Farm Share’s CEO Patricia Robbins urges individuals and their families to simply “show up.”
Those interested in helping facilitate this highly effective and much needed program are encouraged by Ms. Robbins to “come out and meet us, and see the work we are doing.” To donate, please visit farmshare.org.
