Marathon, FL: On September 10, 2018, Farm Share and the Monroe County Long Term Recovery Group with its partner agencies will provide furniture and appliances to individuals and families in disaster case management programs. The event will be held at San Pablo Catholic Church, 550 122nd Street Ocean in Marathon from 11:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m.

Farm Share, a non-profit organization headquartered in Homestead, FL, alleviates hunger and fights poverty by recovering and distributing healthy and nutritious fruits, vegetables, proteins and other non-perishable food to Florida families, children, seniors and individuals in need. “Partnerships are the success of Farm Share,” stated Stephen R. Shelley, CEO. “Partnerships provide the product and partnerships assist Farm Share in connecting the product to the person who needs it.”

As the tip of the spear for long term recovery efforts in the Florida Keys, the Monroe County Long Term Recovery Group (LTRG) in collaboration with numerous community organizations supports disaster recovery programs that include identifying individuals and families with unmet needs in Monroe County; providing case management in order to prioritize how those needs will be met; and delivering goods, services and funds to meet those needs.

“All of us with the Monroe County LTRG are grateful for Farm Share’s continued efforts to support those still recovering after Hurricane Irma,” said Michelle Luckett, Executive Director. “On this first anniversary, it is important to remind our partners outside the Keys that although we are open for business and making improvements every day, there are people throughout the county who are still reeling from the impacts of Hurricane Irma and are in need recovery assistance in many ways.”
