Enrollment Now Open for Nonprofit ‘Bootcamp’; Community Foundation’s Certificate Program Returns in August

The Community Foundation of the Florida Keys is now accepting registrations for its 2021 Leadership Success Academy (LSA), a “bootcamp” for nonprofit board members.  The Community Foundation’s signature training program returns August 19 and 20 to coach individuals working with or serving in an advisory capacity with a nonprofit organization or other community group.

The all-new training sessions will be held at the Tennessee Williams Theatre in Key West, 5901 College Road, on Thursday and Friday, August 19 and 20, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days. The cost of the program is $100 per person, or $200 for three people from one nonprofit, and includes all sessions, course materials, and lunches. Those who participate in both days will receive a Certificate of Completion.

Registration is available online at cffk.org/lsa.

“This is the 13th year of our program and we’ve trained more than 500 nonprofit leaders from throughout the Keys from over 100 different nonprofits,” said Jennifer McComb, President and CEO of the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys. “Our leadership development program is for people who want to effect positive change during their term on a board. Many board members who have completed our program have learned to ask more questions, think outside the way things have always been done, and take steps to move the organizations they care about to the next level.”

Coaches for the 2021 LSA Program include Alex Counts, author and founder of the Grameen Foundation; Wendy Gentes, chief development officer for Baptist Health Foundation; Kimberly Matthews, strategic planning expert; and Community Foundation Chair Dr. Susanne Woods, author, scholar and leadership expert. The first day will focus on leadership styles and board member roles, and the second day will focus on nonprofit finance, fundraising, communications, and strategic planning.

The sessions will also include a special book signing event with Alex Counts, author of When In Doubt, Ask for More: And 213 Other Life and Career Lessons for Mission-Driven Leaders. LSA participants will receive a free copy of the book, thanks to the G. Ross McKee Jr. Charitable Fund.

The Leadership Success Academy is made possible thanks to generous donors holding funds with the Community Foundation. Special thanks to Centennial Bank for sponsoring the lunches for participants.
