Dr. Susanne Woods Re-elected to Lead Community Foundation Board;  Nonprofit Serving Entire Keys Also Names New Officers

The Community Foundation of the Florida Keys is pleased to announce the reappointment of civic leader Dr. Susanne Woods as Chair of its Board of Governors. Susanne, who has served as Board Chair during the past year, has led an accomplished career in higher education at distinguished universities across the country in both faculty and top administrative positions.

“I’m honored to continue to play a leadership role in the Community Foundation’s important work,” says Susanne. “We’ve had significant accomplishments working together with our generous donors and vital nonprofit partners, and I believe we are essential now more than ever as we build an even better future for our Keys community.”

In addition to Susanne, the Community Foundation’s newly elected Executive Committee is Marian Buccafurni (vice chair – grants), Ron Burd (vice chair – governance), John DeWald (vice chair – investment), Will Langley (vice chair – development), Thomas Swain (treasurer and vice chair – finance), Rosi Ware (vice chair – marketing), and Jodi Weinhofer (secretary).

Chair Susanne Woods’ distinguished career includes serving as Provost and Professor of English at Wheaton College, MA; Visiting Professor of English at the University of Miami; Senior Advisor for the Council of Independent Colleges; Vice President of Academic Affairs at Franklin and Marshall College, PA; and Professor of English and Associate Dean of the faculty at Brown University, RI. Locally, she has served on the boards of the Florida Keys Council of the Arts and the Key West Literary Seminar and as Senior Warden (board chair) at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church.

Susanne will serve as Board Chair through June 2022. Community Foundation officers are appointed for one-year terms.

This year, the Community Foundation is celebrating a milestone anniversary of 25 years of connecting people, resources and needs through philanthropy throughout the Keys. Over $31 million in community grants have been awarded since 1996.
