Deputies searching for fleeing motorist in Upper Keys

The Sheriff’s Office asking for the public’s help in locating a 31-year-old Daytona Beach man who fled from Deputies early Friday morning after they attempted to stop him for speeding on U.S. 1.

Multiple motorists and Upper Keys Deputies reported a silver Subaru speeding northbound on Grassy Key at approximately 4:33 a.m. Multiple Deputies attempted to stop the car as it continued north into Islamorada reaching speeds greater than 100 mph. Multiple Deputies stopped pursuing for public safety reasons.

Eventually, spikes were deployed at Mile Marker 99, but the vehicle continued north in Key Largo before the driver, later identified as Ryan Casey Minogue, lost control and struck a concrete barrier near Sunset Boulevard, a picnic table at Tower of Pizza, a street sign and utility pole. The car stopped and Minogue then fled on foot into the woods near Mile Marker 100.

Minogue was wearing khaki shorts and a black hoodie. He is a white male and is approximately 6-foot-6.

Minogue then fled the scene on foot and has yet to be located. Deputies are asking for the public’s help. If you see Minogue, please call 911. Emergency Communications Specialists ask that general tips be sent to Crime Stoppers at 1-866-471-8477. Tipsters can remain anonymous and if a tip leads to an arrest in the case, the caller may be eligible for a cash reward. Tips may also be submitted online at www.floridakeyscrimestoppers.com or via a text message using the smartphone app called P3 Phone. Minogue is wanted for excessive speeding and hit-and-run-related charges, but no other charges, despite rumors that may be circulating on social media.
