DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH STAFF PARTICIPATE IN UNIVERSITY OF MIAMI HEALTH FAIR

The Florida Department of Health in Monroe County participated in the 48th Annual Florida Keys Health Fairs in Big Pine Key and Key West last Saturday, February 2. The health fairs, which were sponsored by the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine and Keys AHEC, offered services and screenings to the public at no cost.

The department promoted services offered throughout the year to the community. Among them include tobacco cessation tools, resources, and signage that designates the event as tobacco free. Bike helmets and bike safety educational information were also distributed at no cost to health fair attendees. Hepatitis C testing, hepatitis A and B vaccinations, and the flu vaccine were also administered at the event.
