December 5 First Thursday Event: New Catalog Release and Annual Winter Members’ Exhibition
The Studios of Key West’s Winter Members’ Exhibition on view December 5-26
“Outside the Lines” opens Thursday, December 5, 6-8pm during First Thursday
On Thursday, December 5 from 6-8pm, The Studios of Key West keeps their lights on late for their popular “First Thursday” open house event. With a new Members’ Exhibition in first floor galleries and The Studios’ 2020 catalog fresh off the presses, it’s the perfect time to stop in to see what’s new at the organization.
The theme of this year’s Winter Members’ Exhibition is “Outside the Lines,” and Studios’ members were encouraged to consider “new possibilities and limitless horizons” as they created work for the show. In anticipation of the opening of “Hugh’s View,” The Studios’ spectacular rooftop terrace slated to open in early 2020, artists were invited to try something new — to experiment with a color palette or medium, create a canvas out of something unconventional, or deliver a fresh take on a familiar form.
“With over 125 entries, the Members’ Exhibition is one of our most popular shows each year,” said Elena Devers, deputy director. “And with so much of the original art at friendly price points, it’s also one of the best holiday shopping opportunities of the season.”
A wide range of artistic styles and media will be represented, including pottery, sculpture, watercolor, acrylic and oil paintings, mixed media works, and more.
Visitors can also stop by during regular gallery hours, Tuesday-Saturday, 10am-4pm, to view exhibitions. “Outside the Lines” remains on view through December 26.
