David Goerke Joins Special Olympics Florida Board of Directors

Goerke oversees all marketing and communication functions at Majestic Athletic, the official suppliers of the on-field MLB uniform and fan wear apparel for the NFL, NBA, NHL, and MLB. Based out of Tampa, Fla., Goerke brings his youthful energy and unique creativity to both of his roles at Majestic Athletic and the Special Olympics Florida Board of Directors.

“David brings a wealth of personal and professional expertise to our board,” said President and CEO of Special Olympics Florida, Sherry Wheelock. “His background in sports marketing is extremely valuable as we continue to grow the organization throughout the state. We are thrilled to welcome him to our team and grateful for his dedication to our mission in making a difference in the lives of people with intellectual disabilities through sports competition.”

Goerke recently joined the VF Corporation from Coca-Cola where he worked in Global Marketing for over 18 years, spearheading multiple FIFA World Cups and Olympics Games with a focus on key customer marketing integration and execution.

Regarded as a trailblazer in the visual merchandising and branded entertainment areas, Goerke recently launched the My Team My Colors Majestic MLB campaign, touting the MLB Cool Base Jersey line in a visually dynamic story that uses world-class music and animation that brings the Majestic Jersey Color story to life. Prior to Coca-Cola he worked at Mattel in product development and innovation and has worked with Disney and QVC on successful licensing and limited-edition collector product lines.

He holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Longwood University where he captained the nationally ranked soccer team and met his wife of 25 years Kendra Goerke. They reside in Tampa with their three children Jackson, Caroline, and Blake.

I’ve watched my oldest son Jackson (22 years old) grow and blossom as a Special Olympics athlete in Georgia and now in Florida. We feel blessed as a family to be involved in many aspects of Special Olympics with its global reach that goes beyond the U.S. and touches millions of peoples’ lives on a daily basis, giving them belief in themselves not only as athletes, but as productive and valued citizens. I hope to add value here in Florida from my experience in global marketing and as a proud dad to a Special Olympics athlete.”
