Daughter to Continue Legacy of Beloved Local Institution: Francheska Garcia and Husband Daniel Garcia Take Over Operations of 5 Brothers Grocery and Sandwich Shop

(Key West, FL) The renowned 5 Brothers Grocery and Sandwich Shop will now be run by Francheska Garcia and husband Daniel Garcia. Francheska, the stepdaughter of Heriberto “Pepe” Paez Jr. and daughter to Maribel Paez – its longtime owners – has taken the reins of the beloved family establishment on the corner of Southard and Grinnell. With a deep-rooted connection to the business, Francheska will uphold the traditions that have made Five Brothers a community staple for multiple generations.

A popular gathering place for locals and visitors alike, 5 Brothers has remained a cherished landmark for decades. Originally opened as a neighborhood grocery store in 1978, Pepe took over the business from his father, one of the original five brothers, in 1997.

“5 Brothers is a testament to our island’s rich heritage, and I’m beyond excited to continue its legacy with the blessing of my family,” said Francheska Garcia. “I grew up in this shop and the building and its patrons hold a special place in my heart. Creating a welcoming atmosphere with great service will stay at the center of everything we do.”

“Our focus goes beyond running a successful business. It’s also about uplifting Key West in whatever way we can, and that will always be a priority for 5 Brothers,” said Daniel Garcia. “We’re committed to engaging with local organizations to help keep our community thriving.”

The Garcias are staying true to the shop’s roots while introducing new options like delivery and online ordering. The store will maintain its regular hours Monday through Saturday 6:30 am to 3:00 pm. Follow along on Instagram at @5BrothersKeyWest.
