Monroe County Mayor Michelle Coldiron and the Board of County Commissioners thank Monroe County Historian Tom Hambright for his 35 years of service to the citizens of the Florida Keys at the monthly meeting.
County Historian Tom Hambright Thanked for his 35 Years of Service Preserving Florida Keys History
KEY WEST, FL – Monroe County Public Library System’s Lead Archivist and acclaimed local Historian Tom Hambright was recognized by the Board of County Commissioners for his 35 years of service to the citizens of Monroe County during the regularly scheduled monthly meeting. He has been described as Monroe County’s own National Treasure for his extensive knowledge of the history of Key West and the Florida Keys, not just throughout Monroe County, but worldwide.
Hambright has worked with authors, students, journalists, film producers, and scholars, sharing his wealth of knowledge in local newspapers, and has appeared on The History Channel, Food Network, HGTV, and other networks uncountable times.
Over the last 15 years, Tom has contributed more than 22,000 digital images and captions from the Florida History photographic collection to the Flickr website www.flickr.com/keyslibraries, which has garnered more than 30 million views since its debut.
