Compass Realty Volunteers help raise awareness of the need to keep our near shore waters clean
Key West, FL – May 23, 2017 – Compass Realty associates and affiliates recently chose to “Give Where They Live” as part of RED Day, an annual day of service in May, dedicated to renewing, energizing and donating to local communities.
As part of the RED Day effort, Compass Realty spent time with Reef Relief helping to clear debris from the mangroves along Boca Chica Rd. They removed over 960 lbs of debris, including a large amount of plastic waste. Reef Relief is a nonprofit membership organization dedicated to improving and protecting our coral reef ecosystem. Since 2010, Reef Relief’s coastal clean-up program has removed over 24,000 lbs of marine debris from the shores and waters of the Florida Keys
“RED Day is built on the belief that people can and should come together to achieve extraordinary things to help others,” said Michael Behmke, Owner Broker, Compass Realty. “This year, we helped to keep our near shore waters free from trash that directly affects the quality of our local marine habitat”.
