COMMISSIONERS COLDIRON AND MERRILL RASCHEIN VISIT TALLAHASSEE FOR THE FLORIDA ASSOCIATION OF COUNTIES LEGISLATIVE CONFERENCE
MONROE COUNTY, FL – Monroe County Commissioner Michelle Coldiron and Holly Merrill Raschein, along with Monroe County Legislative Affairs Director Lisa Tennyson, attended the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) Legislative Conference in Tallahassee earlier this week. The jam-packed two-day schedule included meetings with top State officials and Monroe County’s local delegation.
Commissioner Coldiron said she appreciated her time in Tallahassee, specifically discussing canal restoration and road elevation projects with legislative members and the Governor’s office and the need for additional Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) officers in Monroe County. “We also discussed the Derelict Vessel Bill and the adjustments to mooring ball requirements,” she said. “And, our meeting with FDOT allowed us to thank them for the Old 7 Mile Bridge project and discuss our upcoming plans to roll out our Transportation Master Plan.”
Commissioner Merrill Raschein had a different experience from the other side of the desk – she is a termed-out Monroe County State Representative. “Monroe County has some big asks on the table, and the big decision-makers we met with were extremely receptive,” she said. “Additionally, it was great to see Representative Mooney and Senator Rodriguez in action working hard for us.”
