COMMISSIONER HEATHER CARRUTHERS RECOGNIZED AS A FLORIDA ASSOCIATION OF COUNTY’S PRESIDENTIAL ADVOCATE

ORLANDO, FL – Monroe County Commissioner Heather Carruthers was recognized by the Florida Association of Counties (FAC) as a Presidential Advocate for her work during the 2019 Legislative Session. Carruthers received the designation during an awards ceremony held at the FAC Annual Conference last week.

“FAC’s work on issues related to NFIP, water quality, Everglades restoration, and more have a great benefit for the Florida Keys,” said Carruthers, who has served on the Board and several policy committees. “It’s wonderful to know that our voice is heard on this statewide, and even Federal, platform.”

The FAC Presidential Advocate recognition is given to county commissioners who have shown exceptional leadership in advocating with FAC during the 2019 session to advance the counties’ legislative agenda.

“As commissioners, we are empowered to stand up for our community, to be the voice for those who can’t speak, and to fight for our right to decide our own future,” said FAC President Karson Turner. “Those receiving this honor displayed a commitment not only to the counties’ legislative agenda but to their community and the state.”
