Coffee Butler Amphitheater Dedication Ceremony
The City of Key West will be holding a dedication ceremony to unveil the new sign designating the Coffee Butler Amphitheater. There ceremony begins a 2 p.m. Friday, June 19th at the amphitheater, located at the Truman Waterfront Park.
The City Commission voted unanimously last August to name the venue for Lofton Ambrose “Coffee” Butler who, at 91, continues to perform. During his long career, he has played for visiting dignitaries ranging from President Truman to the Beatles. He is well-known by generations of locals for his outstanding talent and has generously donated his music for many benefits and charities.
“Coffees Butler and his extended family,” reads the proclamation, “have been an instrumental part of the cultural evolution of Key West into the Island of the Arts as it is known today.”
Attendees of the iconic event are reminded to practice social distancing. Remain six feet apart. If you are unable to maintain this distance, or if you have immunity compromises or other vulnerabilities, please to wear a mask, for the safety of everyone participating.
