City’s Mask Ordinance Sunsets
Though the City’s emergency ordinance 21-07 has expired, the community is encouraged to continue to follow the Center for Disease Control (CDC) guidelines regarding masks.
Earlier this week, Governor Ron De Santis suspended Covid-19 restrictions. On Wednesday, the Monroe County Commission rescinded its facial covering ordinance.
Though masks are no longer required outdoors, private businesses still have the right to require that patrons and employees mask up. In addition, federal guidelines still require the wearing of masks on public transit.
The CDC guidelines can be found at www.cdc.gov. For those who are not yet vaccinated, information is available at monroe.flhealth.gov/vax. According to the Monroe County Health Department, 49 percent of Monroe County residents have been vaccinated.
