Ceramics, Conchs and Critters at Frangipani January 4
Frangipani Gallery rings in the new year with new work from David Scott Meier, Gabrielle Wilson and Marc Hacker.  Artists reception is Friday January 4, 6-8 PM as part of the Upper Duval First Friday Art Stroll.  She show will remain up through January.
Roaming the streets of Key West is endlessly entertaining.  The architecture, the decor, the characters all blend together to make Key West what it is.  Every corner has a story unfolding, every porch a vignette, providing never ending subjects for artists.  In addition to the human characters which are so often reflected in the facades of their homes, there are the critters.  Cats are hanging at Hemingway’s and on less famous stoops and their friends the roosters have the run of the city.  For those who venture offshore, there is a myriad of sealife dancing beneath the surface.  Gabrielle Wilson’s paintings are part realistic and part whimsy and are a reflection of Key West’s celebration of life and all its colors.
David Scott Meier explores pattern and abstraction in his new collection of paintings.  Persistent themes of tropical flora and stylized avian inhabitants occupy the new oil paintings.
Marc Hacker is interested in elegance in form.  His new ceramics explore the purity of simple shapes in stoneware and raku.
