Castaways Against Cancer

The Castaways are a proud Relay for Life team who since 2000 who have focused on raising money,  bringing awareness, and honoring those who have fought the fight.  Since 2000, this collection of 12-15 paddlers has featured teachers, firefighters, lawyers, bankers, scientists, non-profit executives, restaurant-owners, accountants and even a renown artist and have raised over 2 million dollars to help fight cancer.  This year’s #NoSurrender tour marked the 20th annual journey down the archipelago.  Our Viceroy, Steve O’Brien, who created the Castaways when he decided to “light a candle instead of curse the darkness” when his mother passed from cancer, along with our Skipper, Patrick Linfors, (whose father passed away from cancer last week) are the only 2 Castaways to do every single trip.  We left Miami a week ago and landed in Key West yesterday.  For the past 3 years, the Castaways partnered with SebastianStrong.org a foundation “racing to cure childhood cancer” and together raised upwards of $180,000 in the fight against cancer
