Cash Prizes Awarded in Upcoming 5K Run November 10

The Children’s School will host its annual 5K run/walk/stroll on Sunday, Nov. 10, 2019, beginning at 8 a.m. at Higgs Beach, 1000 Atlantic Blvd. Cash prizes of $300 will be awarded to overall first male and female 5K finishers. All proceeds from the race will benefit the school’s scholarship fund, which assists local families with tuition at the island’s original Montessori school, serving children ages 18 months through sixth grade.

The scenic, measured 5K course will run along the Atlantic Ocean. A half-mile and one-mile kids “Fun Run” will follow at 9 a.m. First 150 registrants receive a specially designed puzzle piece medal and t-shirt. Awards will be given to top overall and masters male and female 5K runners, as well as top two male and female in each 10-year age group. There will also be awards to the top finishers in the One-Mile Fun Run, Walker and Stroller divisions. Childcare is available during the race for parents who are participating.

Registration is $30 through November 9 for 5K walkers, runners and the stroller division, $20 for 18 and under, $15 for the one-mile fun run and $10 for the half-mile fun run. Veterans run/walk FREE!
