Businesses — Bundle Your Boxes!

The City of Key West and Waste Management want to remind local businesses to recycle cardboard and do it properly.

Cardboard from commercial entities must be contained, whether its bundled with string or flattened and placed in a box. Unsecured flattened boxes are a trip hazard, especially in the Duval Street corridor. Stacked and flattened boxes, if unsecured, can be as slippery as ice for a pedestrian.

According to Waste Management District Manager Greg Sullivan, commercial entities must have a commercial recycling account in order to recycle their cardboard. He noted that commercial recycling rates cost less than trash rates, so an account actually saves businesses money.

To set up a commercial recycling account contact Waste Management at 305-296-8297.

Cardboard is one of the easiest materials to recycle. So save money and the planet by safely containing and recycling your boxes.
