BRIT TAYLOR KICKS OFF 2023 WITH NEW MUSIC AND TOUR AFTER SUCCESSFUL 2022
Another Taylor original, “Ain’t A Hard Livin’ ,” is a semi-autobiographical tune that combines fiddles and real life into a fresh new song with just a touch of ’60s rock and dose of country twang. It is the final pre-release from her highly anticipated Sturgill Simpson/David Ferguson-produced album, Kentucky Blue. She will then hit the road, sharing Kentucky Blue with audiences across the South as well as at the highly publicized Railbird Music Festival and Schellraiser Festival this summer.
Taylor recorded the singles and her new album in late 2021 at the Clement Recording Studio (formerly The Cowboy Arms Hotel and Recording Spa) with Simpson and Ferguson. Last year, Taylor pre-released three singles from the album as well as a Christmas duet with Mike and the Moonpies. She also toured in support of Blackberry Smoke, Kelsey Waldon, Dwight Yoakam, Alabama and Ian Noe as well as headlining her own shows.
Taylor, who broke onto the scene in 2020 with her debut album, Real Me, has continued to receive accolades from critics and fans. She hasn’t slowed down, laying a firm foundation for her music and success. Here are a few highlights leading into 2023:
– Three pre-releases from her upcoming album all were highly received, finding their way onto all streaming platforms and major playlists. Wide Open Country premiered “Cabin In The Woods” and its video, an upbeat tune with a healthy dose of swagger. It was followed by “Kentucky Blue,” the title song for the new album, which had its video premiered by The Boot and was released to praise from People among others. The final pre-release, “Rich Little Girls,” had people everywhere joining in the toe-tapping song that Whiskey Riff added to its “best country music right now is coming out of Appalachia” list, citing Taylor as a rising star.
– Taylor welcomed the Christmas season with “Lonely On Christmas,” an original song and video duet with Mike and the Moonpies. Rolling Stone, dismissing most Christmas songs as being “as saccharine as a holiday cookie” called the release “a wonderfully melancholy new collab” between Taylor and Mike Harmeier of The Moonpies. Released just three short weeks before the holiday, “Lonely On Christmas” the song was streamed more than a quarter of a million times.
– Taylor was featured as an official artist at the acclaimed AMERICANAFEST in Nashville, where The Boot cited her performance as “illustrating the artist’s impeccable songwriting talent and vivacious voice that have her set for a bright, bright future.”
– After opening for Alabama last summer, Taylor was called on to open for Dwight Yoakam in Michigan, Kelsey Waldon and Ian Noe. She toured with Blackberry Smoke, opening for them at sold-out shows across the East, as well as headlining her own shows in New York, West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
– The iconic PBS show, “The Caverns Sessions” (formerly “Bluegrass Underground”), the second longest running nationally televised music show, featured Taylor as one of its episodes from deep inside a cavern in Middle Tennessee in November.
– “Waking Up Ain’t Easy,” a highly acclaimed original song from Taylor’s debut album Real Me, was aired December 18 on the Paramount+ new hit series “Tulsa King.” Produced by Taylor Sheridan and starring Hollywood icon Sylvester Stallone, the series premiered in November as cable’s highest-rated debut series this year. Like other Sheridan TV series, “Tulsa King” is becoming known for its outstanding portfolio of country music.
