Beachgoer airlifted after fall

A 35-year-old South Carolina man was airlifted to a Miami hospital Tuesday afternoon after falling and hitting his head on a concrete sidewalk.

James Erik Wright of Greer, South Carolina was airlifted by Trauma Star to Jackson South Medical Center after falling at approximately 4:40 p.m. at Sombrero Beach in Marathon.

Deputy Darrel Walraven arrived to find a good Samaritan performing CPR on Wright and Wright began breathing on his own shortly thereafter. Arriving paramedics then took over treatment.

Foul play was not a factor in the incident.

Wright’s condition was not immediately clear on Wednesday.
