Author “Craft Talks” on Tuesday, Jan. 16
Key West, Florida – The public is invited to attend Craft Talks by poet Billy Collins and authors Lisa Zeidner, Manuel Gonzales, Naomi Jackson and Kristen-Paige Madonia on Tuesday, January 16, at 5:30 p.m. at the Key West Theater, 512 Eaton Street. The event is sponsored by the Key West Literary Seminar as part of its Writers’ Workshop Program. Admission is free.
Billy Collins, two-term U.S. poet laureate, will offer a lecture entitled “Leading the Reader: Expectation and Surprise,” and novelist and screenwriter Lisa Zeidner will talk about “rethinking the literary gesture.” Gonzales, Jackson and Madonia will participate in a far-ranging panel discussion about craft and what happens when pen meets page.
The five-day Writers’ Workshop Program provides writers at all stages of development with opportunities to explore the craft of writing, and continues through Friday with classroom sessions, receptions, and open readings for workshop participants. Additional faculty instructors include short story master Joy Williams, humorist Daniel Menaker, and critically-acclaimed novelist Madison Smartt Bell.
