Asst. County Attorney Joe DiNovo Recognized as a City, County, and Local Government Law Specialist
MONROE COUNTY, FL – Monroe County Assistant County Attorney Joseph “Joe” DiNovo has completed the Florida Bar’s board certification process to be recognized as a City, County, and Local Government Law Specialist. DiNovo completed more than 60 hours of continuing education courses focusing on local government law to earn this certification. He also had to be peer-reviewed and pass a comprehensive exam and background check. Of the more than 100,000 members of the Florida Bar, only about 300 (.3 percent) are board-certified in City, County, and Local Government Law.
“We congratulate Joe on completing the rigorous board certification process,” said County Attorney Bob Shillinger. “Board certification recognizes his skills and proficiency in City, County, and Local Government law along with his professionalism and ethics in his practice.”
DiNovo joined the County Attorney’s office in 2019 after serving as the Putnam County Attorney and Hernando County Assistant County Attorney. Before that, he held various positions during his 40-year career as an attorney. In Monroe County, he primarily represents the project management department concerning construction law, contracting, permitting, and procurement. DiNovo is the seventh of the nine current lawyers in the office to earn this distinction.
“When Monroe County staff earn professional licenses, designations, and certifications, it raises our collective strength and allows us to be even more effective in serving the public,” said Monroe County Director of Employee Services Bryan Cook. “Congrats to Joe.”
