American Red Cross South Florida Region Opens New Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) Office in Key West

MIAMI, April 4, 2018 — On Monday, April 9, the American Red Cross South Florida Region will open a new Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) office in Key West, Florida.

The new office will be located at Naval Branch Health Clinic Key West and will join the worldwide network of SAF stations that provide emergency communications and other services to members of the U.S. military and their families.

“We are excited to expand American Red Cross services to the Keys and Monroe county, specifically for our military families and veterans,” said Greater Miami & The Keys Chapter Executive Director Emily Borababy. “This new office will be able to provide our military families support before, during, and after deployments and emergencies, and assist our veterans. It has been several years since we had a permanent base of operations in the Keys during blue skies, and we are thrilled to be back in Monroe County once again.”

The American Red Cross Service to the Armed Forces (SAF) has been helping members of our country’s armed forces, our veterans and their families since 1898. The Red Cross SAF provides rehabilitation, recreation, administration, and personal services to men and women in military hospitals and VA medical centers.

“The American Red Cross office on-site at our clinic will enhance the services offered to our patients,” said Cmdr. Duneley Rochino, Naval Branch Health Clinic Key West officer in charge. “This is part of a strong network of support — in both the community and the military — for service members and families.”

The Red Cross SAF Key West office will provide the following services:

  • Emergency Communications and messaging for military members and their families
  • Resiliency and Reconnection Workshops for military members, veterans and their families
  • Disaster preparedness support
  • Information and referral services
