Impromptu Concerts Presents Thomas Mesa and Greg Zelek

The first concert of Key West Impromptu Classical Concerts’ 53rd anniversary season will feature the cellist Thomas Mesa and organist Greg Zelek in a duo concert showcasing the historic pipe organ at St. Paul’s Episcopal church.
Organist Greg Zelek, praised as “extraordinary in the classical music world” (Jon Hornbacher, PBS Wisconsin Life) and a “musical star” (Bill Wineke, Channel 3000), is the Principal Organist of the Madison Symphony Orchestra and Curator of the Overture Concert Organ. In this role, Greg performs and oversees all the MSO’s organ programming.
Cuban American cellist Tommy Mesa has established himself as one of the most charismatic, innovative, and engaging performers of his generation. The recipient of the Sphinx Organization’s 2023 Medal of Excellence, its highest honor, Mesa has appeared as soloist at the Supreme Court of the United States on four occasions and with major orchestras including the Los Angeles Philharmonic at the Hollywood Bowl, The Cleveland Orchestra, The Philadelphia Orchestra, and the symphony orchestras of Indianapolis, Madison, New Jersey, San Antonio, and Santa Barbara, among others.
The January 12th program will feature works by Massenet, Bach, Boulanger, Rossini, Casarrubios and Ficarri.
The concert takes place at 4:00 pm on Sunday, January 12th at St. Paul’s Church at 401 Duval St. Admission is $20 at the door. Students are admitted free.
