Last Stand Cancels Giving Tuesday Event to Prioritize Critical ROGO Workshop
Key West, FL – Last Stand of the Florida Keys has canceled its second annual “Welcome Back – Give Back” cocktail mixer, originally planned for Tuesday, December 3rd, at The Gardens Hotel. The decision was made to ensure full focus on the City of Marathon’s Special Workshop on Rate of Growth Ordinances (ROGOs), a pivotal discussion about the future of the Keys.
This workshop will address urgent issues such as hurricane evacuation safety, overdevelopment, and the sustainable growth of the Florida Keys. Last Stand and the Florida Keys ROGO Coalition have advocated for public safety, environmental preservation, and the responsible growth of our island communities.
“We canceled our event because this workshop is essential to the future of the Keys,” said Andrea Strawn, Vice President of Last Stand. “This is a rare opportunity to influence key development and public safety decisions. We need the community to show up and demonstrate their commitment to these vital issues.”
