Walk on White art strolls offer charming environment to shop local for holidays

Two Walk on White art stroll events are set to take place before Christmas, taking place Thursday, Nov. 21, and Thursday, Dec 19, from 6:00-9:00pm in mid-town Key West. It’s a moving shopping, sipping, cultural event where attendees can discover unique locally created treasures and support local artisans while mixing with old friends and meeting new ones.

Encompassing the stretch of White St. running from Southard to United and extending along several of its cross-streets, art lovers can explore more than 20 WOW destinations showcasing the works of painters, photographers, sculptors, ceramic and mixed media artists, and artisan jewelry makers while enjoying beautiful island architecture, exhibit openings, creative demonstrations, musical, literary and performance offerings, libation and food samples and the pleasure of connecting with community.

Each WOW event benefits a local non-profit organization. November’s beneficiary is the SOS Foundation, which provides support for low-income Monroe County families through its food pantries, nutrition education program, and community kitchen. Art strollers are invited to bring donations of canned foods to a drop-off station that will be set up in front of Fausto’s Food Palace on White St. Raffle tickets for a chance to win a prize basket of goodies donated by area businesses and vendors will be available at the same location, with proceeds benefiting the SOS Foundation.

December’s WOW, which will kick off at Key West City Hall on White St. is to benefit the Key West High School Band.

Walk on White events take place the third Thursday of each month through May and are sponsored in part by the Monroe County Tourist Development Council. For a list of participating locations and more information, visit www.WalkOnWhiteKeyWest.com.
