October 16th Public Workshop to Address Casa Marina Hotel Expansion Proposal
Neighbors are organizing to put a stop to the rezoning which does not align with the City’s comprehensive plan
Key West FL — Concerned residents community leaders and Park Hotels representatives will gather on Wednesday October 16th from 1pm to 3pm at City Hall Commission Chambers 1300 White Street to discuss the proposed 3.36-acre expansion of the Casa Marina Hotel owned by Park Hotels & Resorts a multi-billion dollar publicly traded Real Estate Investment Trust (NYSE: PK).
The expansion plan which includes the rezoning and transfer of transient rentals into residential neighborhoods has raised significant concerns over the potential impact on the community’s quality of life. Local residents argue that the expansion would introduce commercial zoning into residential areas benefiting only a few while negatively affecting many long-term residents.
“This is not just about one hotel it’s about the future of our neighborhoods” said Jeffrey Siegel from Protect our Residential Neighborhoods the group leading the opposition. “We need to protect our residential areas and preserve the quality of life that makes Key West special” Siegel said.
Residents and stakeholders are urged to attend the public workshop to express their concerns and oppose the rezoning proposal.
