Search Warrant Results in Drug Charges

On Friday, September 27th, the Key West Police Department’s Special Investigations Unit and Special Response Team executed a Search Warrant with the assistance of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office and Homeland Security Investigations.

The warrant was obtained after detectives began investigating several complaints of continuing narcotics activity along with a recent opioid induced overdose.

Detectives and Special Agents searched the residence and recovered more than five grams of fentanyl, a liquid heroin mixture, and a litany of drug paraphernalia.

Malcolm Scranton, 26, who is currently being held at the Monroe County Detention Center, was charged with tampering/destroying physical evidence, possession of Fentanyl, and possession of drug paraphernalia. There may be further charges pending.
