Lt. Haley Recognized for 20 Years of Service

Mayor Teri Johnston and the City Commission this month recognized Key West Police Lieutenant Matt Haley for his 20 years of dedicated service with the department.

Lt. Haley began his career with the City of Key West Basic Law Enforcement Academy as a sponsored recruit.

After serving in the United States Coast Guard and earning his bachelor’s degree in at Southern Illinois University and working with the Florida Department of Children and Family, he was ready to start his career with the Key West Police Department.

During his tenure with the police department, Lt. Haley has served as road Patrol Officer, General Case Detective, Nighttime Patrol Sergeant, Sergeant of General Case Detectives, Patrol/School Resource Officer Lieutenant, and currently oversees the Criminal Investigations Unit.

Over the past twenty years, Lt. Haley has received accolades for his performance in the field and in court for the prosecution of cases.
