Man arrested for attempted murder

Law enforcement in Olmsted, Ohio arrested 50-year-old Casey James Loder Monday on an attempted murder warrant obtained by the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.

Loder of Olmsted, Ohio, will also face multiple charges of battery as well as false imprisonment when he is returned to Monroe County, Florida.

The incident occurred on Dec. 31, 2023, on Stock Island. Loder repeatedly beat, struck, and strangled the 49-year-old female victim during their stay at Leo’s Key West Campground. Loder refused to let the victim leave during a domestic dispute and at one point choked her to the point she lost consciousness. The victim feared for her life and scratched Loder multiple times during the incident so his DNA would be under her fingernails should she not survive the attack.

Detectives collected audio recordings taken by the victim of Loder repeatedly threatening/stating he was going to kill the victim during the incident.
