Spearfisherman airlifted after reported shark bite

An adult male was reportedly bitten by a shark on the leg at approximately 3:40 p.m. Monday while spearfishing on the reef off Key West, Florida.

The male was airlifted to a Maimi hospital by Trauma Star after he was brought ashore on Stock Island shortly thereafter.

The victim reportedly was alert and responsive at the time of the airlift. His immediate condition was not clear at the time of this release.
