Man arrested for assault

A 37-year-old Little Torch Key, Florida man was arrested Tuesday for threatening a woman with a hatchet. There were no life-threatening injuries reported.

Justin Mark Nichols was charged with aggravated assault and battery.

The Sheriff’s Office was called to Julia Avenue on Big Pine Key at approximately 10:30 p.m. regarding a domestic dispute. A 39-year-old female victim stated Nichols grabbed her and threatened her with a hatchet. A witness corroborated her statement. A hatchet was found at the scene.

Nichols was stopped on U.S. shortly thereafter and arrested.
