The Sons and Daughters of Italy, Key West Lodge 2436, is celebrating their 45th birthday with an Italian Wine and Cheese Tasting, Wednesday May 22 from 5:30 – 7:00PM at Grand Vin, 1107 Duval Street. A $25 donation benefits the Sons and Daughters of Italy, Key West Lodge, and includes a wine and cheese tasting, birthday cake, live music by Al Romano “Sinatra in the Keys” and a chance to win a collection of gift certificates from Italian owned businesses in Key West including The Garden’s Hotel d’vine Wine Gallery, Roostica Wood-fire Pizzeria, and the Rick’s & Durty Harry’s entertainment complex. There will also be other chance drawings.
An integral part of Key West for nearly 38 years, including initiating the Key West Bocce program, Lodge 2436 was founded on May 7th, 1979. According to Ed Toppino, the original bocce courts, consisting of two lanes, were first constructed at Bayview Park but due to neighbors complaining about the noise, the city then constructed the present day bocce courts at the corner of White Street and Atlantic Boulevard.
The Sons and Daughters of Italy, Key West Lodge is for people of any gender, age, religion and profession. Whether you are of Italian heritage or simply have a love for all things Italian, the Lodge welcomes you as a member.
