Two arrested for drugs following traffic stop

Two people were arrested Friday for multiple drug violations following a traffic stop on U.S. 1 in Marathon.

Kylan Akeem Piper, 34, of West Palm Beach, Florida, and Jaleesa Sinead DeSousa, 33, of Plantation, Florida, were both arrested after they were stopped in a Ford pickup truck with only one working headlight at approximately 11:53 p.m.

The following was found in the vehicle:

  • 17.8 grams of cocaine
  • 25 pills of ecstasy
  • 53 pills of Alprazolam without a prescription
  • 12 THC pills
  • 10 THC gummy candies
  • Assorted unmarked pills and drug paraphernalia

Motorist arrested for DUI

Andrew Ralph Fisher, 35, of Pisgah Forest, North Carolina, was arrested for DUI with property damage Friday after driving recklessly on U.S. 1 and striking a street sign. There were no reported serious injuries.

Multiple 911 callers reported a Dodge Ram pickup truck driving recklessly northbound near Mile Marker 15 at approximately 7:30 p.m. The truck subsequently hit a street sign. The vehicle was located near Mile Marker 25 and was observed swerving into oncoming traffic and nearly striking concrete barriers.

Fisher had a blood alcohol content of .212.
