Man arrested for vehicle theft

A 52-year-old Key Largo, Florida man was arrested Friday for stealing a vehicle from a rental car company.

Andy Santana was charged with grand theft of a motor vehicle and resisting arrest.

The rental car company reported a Toyota Corolla stolen at approximately 11:15 a.m. Friday. They identified Santana as the suspect.

The Sheriff’s Office subsequently found the car with the help of the rental car company in a parking lot near Mile Marker 97 at approximately 1 p.m.

Santana was in the driver’s seat but he refused to exit the vehicle. Santana was eventually removed, but he then refused to put his hands behind his back and continued to resist Deputies’ efforts to put him in custody.

Santana was subsequently shocked with a Taser and ultimately taken to jail.
