Property Fraud Alert, Free Title Monitoring

Monroe County Clerk of Courts and Comptroller, Kevin Madok, is excited to announce that his office is offering Free Title Monitoring to help fight property fraud in Monroe County.  Property title fraud is a growing cybercrime. Attempts at title fraud have already occurred in Monroe County. The most vulnerable are seasonal residents and vacant parcels, but everyone is at risk.

This service was rolled out several months ago and we have approximately 400 subscribers.  The service appears to be operating smoothly.  Therefore, we are making this formal announcement to encourage all property owners to take advantage of this free service.

By subscribing to the service, the homeowner will receive alerts when a document is recorded in their name.  Property Fraud will notify an owner WITHIN 24 HOURS of a deed, mortgage or other land record being recorded in the subscriber’s registered name in Monroe County’s Official Records.

To subscribe, please visit www.monroe-clerk.com and click on the Free Title Monitoring tile and follow the directions.  If you experience any trouble registering for this service, please contact the Property Fraud Alert vendor Fidlar at (800) 728-3858.
