Man arrested for threats /resisting arrest
A 45-year-old Key West, Florida man was arrested Saturday after spitting at Sheriff’s Office Deputies and threatening to shoot and kill them. There were no injuries reported.
Jon Claude David Abril was charged with DUI, battery on a law enforcement officer, threatening a law enforcement officer, tampering with evidence, and driving without a driver’s license.
Abril was stopped in a Ford minivan by the Sheriff’s Office on U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 32 at approximately 10:35 p.m. for traveling 75 mph in a 35 mph zone. Abril threw a can of alcoholic beverage from the van before pulling over.
Abril tensed his body and pulled away from the Deputies. He refused to follow commands and threatened to shoot and kill an arresting Deputy. He continued to resist arrest, curse, and spit.
Abril continued to be combative while he was booked into jail.
