Paul and his family with Commissioners Mary Lou Hoover, Lissette Carey, and Jimmy Weekley, Mayor Teri Johnston, Vice Mayor Sam Kaufman, and Commissioner Billy Wardlow.
Mayor Teri Johnston and the City Commission, during the October commission meeting, presented a commendation to Key West resident and activist Paul Menta.
Menta served as the lead in the Key West 200-year Celebration which included the creation and installation of a time capsule at Mallory Square and ended with a drone firework show in Truman Waterfront Park.
He was instrumental in setting up the “It’s 5 O’clock in Key West Second Line” procession immediately after the passing of Jimmy Buffett.
Featured on the program Spirit of the Florida Keys with Chad Crawford, Menta represented Key West and our local seafood.
Menta also participated in the county’s bicentennial celebration and helped create what is believed to be the world’s largest Key Lime Pie with Chef Kermit Carpenter.
“Beyond Key West and the Florida Keys,” reads the commendation, “Paul headed up fundraising for Green Turtle Cay after Hurricane Dorian caused severe damage to the island in 2019 and secured Billy Currington to host a free Bahamas benefit concert.”
