IN CONVERSATION WITH…Cathy Rose

Duval Square’s JAG Gallery announces another in their series of gallery talks October 18th at 6pm when art maker Cathy Rose visits Key West during the gallery’s special Cathy Rose Week, October 16th – 20th.  The event is free and open to the public.

An artist for over 40 years and a gallerist for almost 20, with her New Orleans based Lucky Rose Gallery, Rose began her artistic journey as a production potter but became interested in figurative work both as a sculptor and a painter.  Primarily known and easily recognized for her captivating assemblage in wood and clay plus vintage fabrics and reclaimed objects as well as her paintings on reclaimed bread boards or foundry forms, Cathy is inspired largely by Southern Primitive Folk and Outsider Art charming collectors throughout the US and abroad and a Key West favorite, ever since her first exhibit here at Lucky Street Gallery over 20 years ago.
