Two men arrested on drug/gun charges

Two Lower Keys men were arrested Friday following a traffic stop in which a large amount of methamphetamine and guns were found.

Trevor Jay Guillemette, 32, of Big Pine Key, and Thomas Chase Marshall, 26, of Stock Island, were both charged with trafficking methamphetamine, evidence tampering, carrying a concealed firearm during the commission of a felony, and possession of drug paraphernalia.

The Sheriff’s Office stopped a southbound van on U.S. 1 near Mile Marker 92 in Key Largo at approximately 1:30 a.m. for illegal window tinting. K9 Coral alerted to the presence of drugs in the vehicle.

The suspects dumped methamphetamine into a cup of water in an attempt to hide the narcotics.

The following were found:

  • 16 ounces of methamphetamine (mixed with water)
  • Two .40-caliber handguns
  • 22 rounds of .40-caliber ammunition
  • Baggies containing cocaine residue
