This is so tragic. It is so much harder to die when free diving compared to scuba, but I had two dangerous incidents. One, near shallow-water blackout, from spending 4 hours chasing one 5-inch but well-hidden lobster in 82 degree water. got out and collapsed in my boat, shaking, just in time. another time, caught in a swarm of men-o-wars, three stinger coils, but no allergic reaction. Both times alone. I hope I can understand how this poor kid died, with a partner.
