LETTER TO EDITOR / POLITICAL PERSPECTIVES

By Roger C. Kostmayer

Smart organizations that need to fill important positions wisely retain professional recruitors, known as “Headhunters”.  There is no more important position to fill than the US presidency, and American voters would be wise to look for an honest, qualified, leader with a record of success and a  forward looking plan to benefit all the people.  This means following the professional approach based on objectivity, hard facts, track records, psychological analysis and common sense.  The goal for any American president is described in the oath of office – serve the nation, protect the Constitution and (by implication) give the people peace and prosperity.

The Biden Campaign will likely describe their candidate and his administration as team COMPETENCE, and then prove it by listing facts regarding the economy and employment, their successful bipartisan legislation (like infrastructure), and the specific policies they and a majority of Americans believe are critical (reasonable gun reform, women’s health and privacy rights, the environment, supporting Ukraine and NATO).  And they won’t be shy about describing their opponent (Trump or DeSantis) as proven distributors of CHAOS and FEAR.

Two interesting issues that will dominate the news during this political battle are: Mutual Destruction (in the Republican primary), and AGE in the general election (especially if DeSantis is a nominee).  The only two candidates dominating the Republican primary, Trump and DeSantis, are known for their lack of civility and personal viciousness, and the odds are they will both come out of the primary with serious political wounds, and be supported by a divided party.

The President Joe Biden age issue is real and serious.  The best response is honesty and reality – “Don’t compare me to the ALmighty, compare me to the ALternative- and then, look at my record and how I fit the profile”.
