Community Foundation Names Nonprofit Partners in Paradise
Organization Presents Surprise Checks Totaling $5,000 to the Key West Garden Club & the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden
At its 23rd Annual Unsung Heroes event, the Community Foundation of the Florida Keys named two Nonprofit Partners in Paradise. Board chair Will Langley presented the Key West Garden Club and the Key West Tropical Forest & Botanical Garden each with a check for $2,500.
“The Community Foundation honors nonprofits Keys-wide who are using our services to be their best for our island community now and in the future,” said Jennifer McComb, Community Foundation president and CEO.
The Key West Garden Club and the Botanical Garden were the only two organizations countywide who had met three criteria: 1) listed at least one opportunity with the Florida Keys Volunteer Center; 2) had at least one board member participate in the Leadership Success Academy in 2021 or 2022; and 3) have a Community Foundation fund.
Previous Nonprofit Partners in Paradise awardees were the Florida Keys SPCA, in recognition of its successful capital campaign for a new facility, and Habitat for Humanity of Key West and Lower Florida Keys, honored for completing major hurricane repairs and adding more affordable housing following Hurricane Irma.
